Shredding plastic film requires controlling a light, flexible and irregularly feeding waste. PE and PP offcuts can be folded, formed into skeins or wrapped around rotor elements. Before changing blades or increasing power, it is advisable to observe where the problem appears: inlet, cutting chamber or discharge.
Why the film behaves differently
A sheet does not offer the same cut resistance as a rigid piece. It can move away from the cutting edge if the feed system does not hold it properly. It can also form bridges in the hopper. The condition of the material matters: coils, compacted bales and loose cuttings require different tests. Moisture and adhesive residue should be recorded because they disrupt feeding and cleaning.
Rotor, bedknife and feed

This principle allows us to review the whole, instead of attributing each jam to the edge. Check the geometry and configuration authorized for your model. Select a representative batch and keep the composition, weight and loading mode constant. Write down useful production, consumption, interruptions and proportion of fines. Change a single variable in each authorized trial. If you mix rotor, screen and feed at the same time, it will be difficult to know what has improved the process. Retain output samples to check uniformity.

Prepare brand, model, serial number, part reference, photos of the edge and housing, and a description of the waste. Indicate if the blades have been resharpened and if there are differences between positions. A visually similar piece may have a different angle, thickness or fixing system. Compatibility must be confirmed before supply.

Not necessarily. It can modify the behavior of the material and heat generation. Evaluate the configuration intended by the manufacturer and the specific cause of the jam.
