Blades for single-shaft shredders: rotor, stator and blade holder

In a single-shaft crusher, the cut depends on the assembly formed by the rotor, moving blades, counterblade and thrust system. Changing just one part without checking the others can cause vibrations, looseness or high consumption.

rotor blades

They can be square, rectangular, concave or octagonal. They normally have several usable edges. It is essential that they fully support and that the screw reaches the specified torque.

Counterblade or stator

The fixed blade defines the cutting line in front of the rotor. Its straightness, height and separation directly influence the capacity. A nicked stator quickly damages new blades.

Knife holders and supports

Deformed seats prevent the geometry from being maintained. Welds, contact surfaces, threads and accumulations of material should be checked. Depending on the application, they can be manufactured from structural steel or anti-wear materials.

Screws

Screws work under impact and vibration. They should not be replaced by generic references without checking quality, length, head and locking system.

Replacement plan

Rotating the cutting edges in an organized manner and logging hours helps keep the rotor balanced. When changing blades it is advisable to clean seats, check heights and adjust the bedblade.

Consult spare parts for single shaft crushers from WEIMA, VECOPLAN, LINDNER, UNTHA, BANO and other brands.

Compatibility between blade, support and screw

The exterior measurement of a blade alone does not guarantee compatibility. The taper, bottom radius, seat depth, screw position and final height relative to the rotor must match. Small differences can concentrate the load in one point and break the piece.

It is also important to check the blade holder. A battered seat or a worn weld changes the position of the cutting edge and makes it impossible to maintain uniform clearance in front of the stator.

Wear according to the waste processed

The film usually wraps the rotor if the cutting edge loses its penetration capacity. Rigid plastics generate abrasion, while wood, cable, WEEE and mixed waste can introduce impacts and contaminants. That is why the hardness must be adapted to each application.

Recommended assembly sequence

  1. Lock the machine and completely clean the housings.
  2. Compare blades, screws and brackets with the drawing or sample.
  3. Assemble following the rotor balance pattern.
  4. Apply the specified torque and locking system.
  5. Adjust the bedknife and rotate manually before starting.

Frequently asked questions

Can new and used blades be mixed?

Only if the heights and masses are within tolerance. In many rotors it is preferable to work with homogeneous sets to avoid imbalance.

Why do screws come loose?

Common causes are dirty seat, incorrect torque, damaged thread, improper screw or blade movement. Changing just the screw may not solve the origin.
