Industrial knife geometry: cutting edges, holes and seating surfaces

The exterior dimensions are necessary to identify a blade, but are not always enough to manufacture a replacement. The cutting assembly also depends on the bevel, orientation, holes and load-transmitting surfaces.

Document the cutting edge

Indicate the number of usable cutting edges, the bevel side and the mounting orientation. Photograph a new part or an area that retains the original geometry. A badly worn blade can hide important design data.

Check fixing

Record position and type of holes, threads and recesses, along with supporting surfaces. Do not change the screw or its type without checking the equipment specification. Fixing and seating are part of the blade’s function.

Prepare the query

  • Reference and model of the machine.
  • Plan or identified sample.
  • Photographs of all sides and the assembly.
  • General measurements and details of drilling.
  • Processed material and wear history.

Sharp Industrial can study custom manufacturing based on this information. The drawing and tolerances must be agreed before producing; Sharing only a photo does not allow you to confirm all functional characteristics.
